Question:

I am currently insured through Metlife and recently changed my vehicle usage from Commuting to Pleasure usage and my rates went UP! I thought they would go down since I'm not sitting in traffic twice a day and just using in for trips to the store and such. Is this normal? Do other companies do this??

Answer:

Yeah it is normal.....Usually the rates are based on how many miles you drive a year.  Insurance companies always assume that you will be a higher risk using your vehicle for pleasure therefore leaving it for commute is always cheaper.
