Question:

I am fully covered for my own personal vehicle. However, I was in an accident (I rear-ended a truck) while driving a family member's vehicle that was uninsured at the time of the accident due to a lapse in coverage. By way of dafault or obligation, is my insurance company now responsible for damages sustained to the other vehicle?

Answer:

No, your companay is not responsible.  Insurance follows the vehicle not the driver so becuase the car that you were driving was uninsured there will be no coverage.
