Question:

My car was hit while parked overnight by my apartment buliding. They driver of the other car did not leave information and there were no witnesses. I carry comprehensive and liability insurance only. I had heard from a neighbor that there was some coverage for underinsured drivers specifically for hit and runs. Is this at all true?

Answer:

Uninsured/Underinsured coverage goes in affect only if the driver of the other vehicle was apprehended.  So if you have no information on the other driver you will not have any coverage under Uninsured/Underinsured.
